Mean Girls Grown Up
Just added to my cold winter days reading list…
Book Description
Almost every woman has experienced bullying. Whether her role was that of victim, aggressor, or bystander, the pain of relational aggression (female bullying) lasts long after the incident has passed. In Mean Girls Grown Up, Cheryl Dellasega explores why women are often their own worst enemies, offering practical advice for a variety of situations. Drawing upon extensive research and interviews, she shares real-life stories from women as well as the knowledge of experts who have helped women overcome the negative effects of aggression. Readers will hear how adult women can be just as vicious as their younger counterparts, learn strategies for dealing with adult bullies, how to avoid being involved in relational aggression, and more. Dellasega outlines how women can change their behavior successfully by shifting away from aggression and embracing a spirit of cooperation in interactions with others.
I’ve got a real problem with mean people period - I’d love to find a book that gives me a better handle on dealing with mean people rather than the way I usually do.
How do you deal with mean people? Do you ignore them and hope they just go away? Do you feel you handle them better as adults than you did as kids or is it about the same?

When I came across mean girls when I was young I’d just be snotty back. Later (and still) I do try the whole kill them with kindness deal but it’s not truly my style. I get so mad at mean people that I want to knock them down. I don’t but that’s what I want to do. That kill em with kindness thing fails me usually because my face gives me away. I’m the worst when it come to hiding scowls. I’m too good at the glare. Well, this wasn’t a very helpful answer now was it.

@ Jennifer - I’m the same way. My mom says I’ve a face of a million expressions and that if I’m mad at someone or think they’re just plain stupid, my face is a dead giveaway. Thus the reason I’ve a face for the internet :)
@ Denise - I didn’t know I knew someone famous. I’m going to add that book to my list of reading. I’ve a complex relationship with some family and need all the help I can get. Mom says so - I get her into too much trouble running my mouth :)
@ Jessica - Be sure to let me know what you think.
